I’ve always wanted to drive up to Northern Michigan to capture an engagement session. When Courtney told me Ross proposed in Traverse City last summer, I knew that was my opportunity to go! The night I drove up Courtney and Ross had already been there for a couple of days. They thought they would make a trip out of it. I convinced my mom and sister to drive up with me and make it a girl’s trip. It was nice to escape for a couple of days and finally get a base tan. Courtney and Ross thought it would be a good idea to bring a bottle of wine over to my hotel’s beach. We had a blast talking until it was pitch black outside. I love it when I have the opportunity to hang out with my clients before their engagement session. It just takes comfort to a whole new level for the session! Also, how could I turn down a bottle of pinot noir? I can’t…it’s my FAVORITE! *Hint to any future clients, I’m a sucker for red wine*
I absolutely have to touch base on the fact that Courtney’s last name is Ross’ first name. How often do you come by that? I wish her first name was Ross’ last name because the odds have to be crazy to have a situation like that! Both of them started dating in college at The University of Toledo (GO ROCKETS). I tend to ask all of my brides if they knew the proposal was coming, she said that she had no idea! The year prior, Ross had proposed at Mission Point Lighthouse. It just felt right to go back to that very place for their engagement session. It’s always extra special when the location plays a part into their love story.
