Recently I’ve been asking my couples if they prefer an urban vibe or rural style for their engagement session. I’ve noticed a trend after asking this question: the answer is always rural. I’ve been searching for an answer to why that’s the trend. Well, I finally came to the conclusion that in the midwest it’s just what people are used to. It’s seen everywhere, beautiful meadowy or beachy engagements. It’s not often that people want graffiti or cars everywhere in the background of their lovey dovey engagement session. We all know that’s what you envision when you think of an urban style photoshoot. I just wanted to show my clients that urban doesn’t have to be graffiti, taxi cabs, or random brick alleyways. Urban can be elegant and classic, and I’m all about those two things. Although shooting in a meadow field is absolutely stunning, it’s always nice to go outside of the box! I thought it would be beneficial to post a series of blog posts that are different than what people see from this area. This way I can show my clients what their choosing between: Urban or Rural. This is a shoot I did this past weekend in downtown Toledo with two special people. Kyle and Lindsey have been together for a while and I thought that I’d treat them to a couples session to see what the fuss is all about. I apologize to Kyle especially for dragging him outside of his comfort zone. Lindsey was worried he wouldn’t want to participate but I think knowing these two since I was 17 helped a little 😉
